The music at the heart of this event is dance music, so it’s very important we have some dance element in the weekend.
There is no-one more experienced than Jerry O’Reilly, who besides being a wonderful dancer, was also closely involved in producing the landmark book ‘Johnny O’Leary of Sliabh Luachra’ and an associated CD album. He is a founder member of the Brooks Academy Dancing School, established in Dublin in 1982, where he is still actively involved and teaches a weekly dance class there. Jerry’s skills and easy manner have taken him all over Ireland, the UK, Europe, USA and Canada.
As well as his dancing abilities, Jerry is also a traditional singer of note, one of the organisers of the Goilín Traditional Singers Club in Dublin, considered by many to be the foremost singing club in Ireland. Recently he has been one of the team of performers involved in the “Man, Woman and Child” song project across Ireland.
Jerry will be leading dance workshops and a performance in the main concert, together with his partner Rosie Davis.
